Veteran actor Samuel L Jackson berated a US TV host who mistook him as movie star Laurence Fishburne.
KTLA newscaster Sam Rubin interviewed the actor and asked him about his recent advert in the Super Bowl, referring to the Kia sedan ad where Fishburne reenacted his role from the movie series “The Matrix.”
‘We don’t all look alike!’
The mistake did not sit well with Jackson.
“We don’t all look alike! We may all be black and famous but we don’t all look alike. There’s more than one black guy doing a commercial. I’m the ‘What’s in your wallet?’ black guy. He’s the car black guy. Morgan Freeman is the other credit card black guy. You only hear his voice, though, so you probably won’t confuse him with Laurence Fishburne,” said the movie star.
‘A very amateur mistake’
Rubin tried to divert the conversation to the main reason for the interview: the revival of “Robocop,” but Jackson continued to berate the host.
The actor jibed at Rubin, asking if he would confuse him for his co-stars Michael Keaton and Gary Oldman.
The entertainment correspondent Rubin, who has snagged several awards, repeatedly apologized for the mistake.
“More often than not I really do know what I’m talking about. But I didn’t 30 minutes ago and I’m really embarrassed about it, and I very much apologize to Samuel L Jackson and anyone else who was offended for what was a very amateur mistake,” said Rubin.
